CNC conversion of the relatively inexpensive.Proxxon MF70 micro milling machine. The Proxxon MF70 has a cutting evelope of  50 x 250 x 50 mm.  The spindle will run at up to  20,000 r.p.m. and cutters up to 3 mm diameter can be used.  

With some creative thinking, it is certainly possible to use this small machine to make components for a larger one.  It can be used manually to create  parts for it's  OWN conversion.  Part of the content deals with construction of a suitable controller.  The project author also created the linked 3D touchprobe project.   There are similar supplied resources.  Click the image to access project details.
